In the forest, the moon hangs high, and behind it, the stars, twinkling in the inky abyss over a clearing in the wood. Snow falls, and to the eyes of the man lying in it, it is as if the stars themselves are drifting down to land upon warm skin wrapped in thick furs. The world is silent without silence—the gentle chirp and chitter of nighttime woodlands where none others exist.

The Hermit
Name: Some largely forgotten, some buried. He now goes by Vynathr Alria, but the Dragons and Ixal speak a different one, and the few who remember the before speak another.Age: 34, currently.
Height: 7'10.
Gender: Transgender male. Prone to feminine dress and occasional behavior, and may at times accept ladylike terms, but he is always a man, and uses he/him pronouns.
Orientation: Bi-aromantic, asexual, sex affirmative, though he has never had a partner.
Race: Duskwight, though there are some whispers of very distant Garlean blood, perhaps only a single drop. It is unproven, and he himself does not know and does not care.
Nationality: He will bite you rather than claim it, but he was born in Ishgard, though he prefers to claim his Gelmorran mother.Occupation: Adventurer. Bodyguard, if you know him already and ask in the right way. Scholar, of the literal (non-combat) variety, self-taught, though the only people using the word are those other than himself.
Titles: That strange one. Dark knight. The changeling. Dragon-child. Vy, by very few, but he is more prone to give it as a low-stakes alias to avoid attention on a quiet day than a welcome nickname by a friend.
Dark Triad: Psychopathy, if one were to choose. Low overall.
Temperament: Phlegmatic.
Star sign: Capricorn.
Overview:
A quick look at a musclebound, tall, and scarred man like Vynathr can yield a very distinct impression that one knows exactly what he thinks and is. When Vynathr is in his armor, especially, it is easy to both fear and dismiss him as a dangerous brute, especially if one were to subscribe to certain racist beliefs about Duskwights, save for the fact that his manner is distinctly aware and intent. Vynathr is an intelligent, analytic, and persistent adventurer who, once he believes in a cause, will not cease to hound his targets. Thank the twelve that he is... Generally... A moral man.Traits:
Vynathr is an overwhelmingly large, but very quiet man, carrying himself delicately and with little noise. When moving about, he can adopt a manner not unlike that of a stalking predator, holding confidence in his physical abilities and a mind set towards constant analysis, but ultimately, he is cautious and very deeply shy, even if he shows it in an abnormal way. He is empathetic, but prone to anger, and has a powerful dislike of lying to the point of inconveniencing himself and picking fights with anyone he believes may be obscuring information, even if the lies in question are merely social in nature. The same goes for anyone he views as bigoted, and to a lesser degree, religious zealots, especially of the Halonic faith.Psychology:
Vynathr's alignment can shift heavily depending on the universe at hand and the individuals he is surrounded with, but ultimately, he tends to return to a state of chaotic good, in the sense of disregard for laws or social rules where they conflict with his morals, rather than the sense of an outright chaotic personality. His priorities in terms of what is 'good' may also be different from yours, and he can be tempted away from some of them with the right kinds of pushing. I leave to you, the reader, to find what exactly his morals are, which ones can be shifted, and under what circumstance. I only warn you that the wrong pushes can be met with intense and immediate anger. On a more technical level, Vynathr is autistic and suffers from pica, depression, social anxiety, PTSD and complex PTSD. He is generally mute, due to a discomfort with his own voice, and uses sign language to circumvent this, though he can on rare occasions be caught singing in private, or get startled or enraged into letting out the occasional word or two.Physiology:
Vynathr has gigantism, however, he's very lucky in that it has largely only affected his height and hormones. His face, hands, and feet are proportional, as are his organs, though his muscles and facial features are very mildly affected, resulting in stronger masculine features than he might otherwise have had being assigned female at birth. He does not suffer from most of the common side effects of gigantism, such as muscle weakness, sweating, or restricted movement. He does, however, have chronic back and joint pain, mild farsightedness, and his puberty was delayed, all due to this disorder. He takes HRT provided by Sharlayan, as although the pituitary tumor that resulted in his gigantism did give him some heightened level of testosterone in the first place and helped him pass, it did not reach his desired level and has affected him negatively in other hormonal matters that the medication balanced. The tumor is still present in his pituitary gland, but is benign. If examined with Sharlayan, Garlean or equivalent medical techniques such as blood tests, one would find that while the tumor was proportionally large when he was a child leading to his excessive growth, it did not grow with him, resulting in a much lower level of GH in adulthood and thus his acromegaly has resulted in a strong jaw, brow, and nose, but stopped there.Outside of the effects of his gigantism, Vynathr has sensory processing issues on account of his autism, has occasional myoclonus and strabismus in the form of one eye moving slower than the other from time to time, and has many scars in various places. More notably, he has an aetherial blockage—an inability to cast magic past the boundaries of his own body without physical contact to the target along with time and concentration. Because of this, Vynathr is only capable of damaging magic, typically channelled through a physical weapon to apply a charge to it, with a lot of concentration. He is capable of enchanting objects, when given enough time and calm, but all enchantments are basic. When it comes to healing, he is completely incapable. After a certain event roughly around his thirtieth year of life, he suffered a primal encounter which led to severe light-aspected aetheric overwhelm. Due to his blessing of light, he did not get tempered, but his inability to balance his own aether via using magic to expel the excess at the necessary rate, the aether burst forth violently from a few places, such as his mouth, as well as ripping out from the delicate places on the inner forearm and his right eye, resulting in pale scarring on the former and a permanent whiteness in the iris of the latter. Light still swims in his vision from that eye, but he has a heightened awareness of aether from that direction due to the light reacting to it. Because of it, he tends to cock his head to aim the damaged eye at things when curious about their aether. That said, his sensitivity there can be used against him.Appearance:
Vynathr is extremely tall, with a very muscular frame compared to how slim Elezen tend to be. His skin is a slightly dark grey, his hair is long and curly, a lighter shade of grey with occasional streaks of dark. His eyes are mismatched, one blue and one white, and he is covered in scars. He has an aquiline nose and a short beard, neatly trimmed. He typically wears either heavy armor or elegant black dresses which cover most of his skin. When in armor, he keeps his skirts, but ensures that they have gaps down the sides to ensure his legs remain free in case of snagging or other such danger, and they are always easily pulled away from the main armor if need be.Abilities:
Vynathr is a skilled dark knight, lancer, and archer, though all magic is altered to better suit his aetheric blockage. In addition, he has the echo, an ability to see into the past, and translate language and intent clearly—an understanding of the soul. This also guides him to locate essential objects and people faster and more easily than most people can, essentially a profound amount of luck and instinct. Lastly, he has the blessing of light which he gained upon getting the echo, which protects him from abrupt aetheric change, such as tempering. This can backfire, however—his echo leaves him vulnerable to aetheric fluctuation, and can cause migraines, dizziness, immobility, dissociation, pain, and fainting. The blessing of light prevents his body from absorbing the aether and allowing it to affect his soul, but that renders his body unable to metabolize large amounts of aether (i.e., at levels which would temper an average individual), which can cause nausea, pain, lightheadedness, dizziness, and more severe symptoms if not properly treated. The severity of this can range from a single pang of pain for low level tempering attempts to increasingly more severe with the strength and duration of the attempt. Lastly, it must be noted that his blessing of the light can fail to protect him from aetheric influence under extreme pressure, such as in the situation that caused his light scarring. He will never be tempered, but he can be broken.Likes:
Cultural history lessons, magic especially that which he has not encountered before, stores of knowledge, nature, animals, sparring, music, sketching, parkour, rock climbing, hiking, charcoal art, outdoor cooking, hunting, children, cats, dragons, non-human appearing races, ravens, wolves.Dislikes:
Lies, racism, Ishgard, Halonic beliefs and customs, intense nationalism, bigotry, unnecessary cruelty or violence, scholars who judge those lacking education, classism, gatekeeping, primals, displays of extreme wealth (though he can be mollified about that one with a few well-placed pretty gifts or enough charm).Present Status:
Vynathr journeys the world, doing jobs as needed to aid people. His instincts often guide him into extremely dangerous and important situations, but he tries to avoid gaining any sort of reputation.Warnings:
Vynathr and his past deal in extreme violence, racial discrimination, severe religious trauma, child abandonment, familial death, and fear. He has experienced much, and his views on the world can be skewed or intense because of it. Though he ultimately means well, he can sometimes turn a blind eye to violence, as it has been such a massive part of his life, and some alternate versions of him can take that to a whole new degree.Notes:
Vynathr was illiterate for most of his life and had no exposure to books until his late twenties, at which point he gradually became literate with a mix of self-teaching and proper lessons. He primarily uses sign language, and can often sign poorly or vaguely, but the Echo fills in his intent, so he communicates well even with those who do not know sign.Notably, he also has a pet hoarhound named Alehwarg, who he rescued from a trap in the Coerthan highlands and now cares for deeply. Alehwarg is roughly nine feet tall at the shoulder, and can easily carry three people and their luggage for long distances, or Vynathr, one person, and their luggage, as Vynathr is... Very large.
Hello there! My name is Cannibal. Before we get into rules and details, I must first preface with this: I have had some very unfortunate experiences with ingame roleplay, and have been left with horrendous anxiety and frequent panic attacks as a result. As such, I am mostly available on discord, and tend to avoid ingame roleplay in group settings, though I'm very much happy to interact when I'm on (or when I am requested specifically), especially one on one. Just know that I may have to step away frequently.
WARNING. PROCEED NO FURTHER UNTIL YOU ACCEPT THIS.
Vynathr is an autistic, trans Ishgardian Duskwight Elezen, and his story contains themes of racism, ableism, and transphobia directed towards him. THIS IS NOT AN INVITATION TO BE RACIST, ABLEIST, OR TRANSPHOBIC. Any IC bigotry or harassment will be met with immediate repercussions and possible reports to moderators unless CAREFULLY discussed and consented to OOC by everyone involved. Any OOC bigotry or harassment will be immediately and thoroughly reported to everyone and their mother, do not try me. This includes racial policing in Ishgardian rp, such as claiming that only Hyur and Elezen exist in traditional Ishgard, when 10% of the population is not either, and even the Elezen are often Duskwights rather than Wildwoods. In addition, even if IC bigotry is discussed and consented to, Vynathr is not going to react well to it, so I advise you have a combat system prepared.Though Vynathr's lore occasionally includes references to him as a changeling, this is not actually the case. He is just autistic and sympathetic to dragons, and the Ishgardians around him when he was a child especially did not react well to it. This is based on the real life medieval belief that autistic children and infants were changelings, fae that stole and replaced the baby, due to the fact that autism is first shown by a developmental regression as an infant. There are many triggering and disturbing historical practices around this belief. If your character refers to Vynathr as a changeling, this will be taken as in character ignorance. Any violence, aggression, or other varieties of IC bigotry in this regard will be met just as violently as any other kind, as Vynathr has met significant trauma from these accusations as a child. Gentle questioning about the rumors, however, is welcome, even if Vynathr will react with discomfort. OOC goes much the same, save the discomfort—please, feel free to ask me, I can tell you much more OOC than I can IC, and I'm much less prone to offence than Vynathr is. I find the history interesting, even if I also find it horrific.I'm nicer than I sound. I just also do not tolerate cruelty or ignorance. If you need education or information, simply ask me ooc. I won't bite you unless you wrong me on purpose.Name: Cannibal, Nik, Nikola, anything that sounds like Cannibal (Cannonball, Carabiner, Carnival...)

Rules
- I am an adult and will only interact with other adults aged 21+. This goes for both SFW and NSFW content.- No OOC bigotry will be tolerated. I am happy to educate, mistakes are one thing, but if you are a bigoted person, I will not interact with you. Period.- IC bigotry must be discussed OOC with me. I am very much a believer that IC beliefs are separate from OOC beliefs, but I also must be cautious. In addition, my characters will not take well to IC bigotry, and will react accordingly, with consequences discussed OOC ranging from arguments to violence. If we cannot agree on a consequence that you are comfortable with and that my characters would be satisfied with, my characters will walk away.- On a related point, if my character is mad at or uncomfortable with your character, it does not mean that I, OOC, am mad at or uncomfortable with you, OOC. If your character is argumentative, rude, et cetera, I don't mind that, but please expect IC consequences for IC words and actions. If having my character mad at your character is stressful or uncomfortable for you, I can leave the interaction, but I will not have them tolerate things they would not normally tolerate.- I may have to go afk at any time, suddenly and without warning. When this happens, I will post something like "((afk brb))". I may even have to leave entirely, and of course, I will give some indication if I do. Please do not take offence. Please do not take it as my character ignoring what is happening in front of them. I do not want my OOC emergencies to affect my IC interactions. If the wait goes long, you are welcome to have your character walk away. We can discuss OOC what the interaction might have entailed, or even continue it at a later date.- During IC conflicts such as arguments and other such tense moments, I get very anxious, due to past experience with others having IC feelings bleed into their OOC feelings, resulting in either resentment towards me, or them believing I held resentment towards them. Due to this, I have a strict rule for conflicts with me: We must have a conversation OOC during the IC conflict, so that I can read your OOC tone. It can just be light chatter, talking about the interaction. I don't want you to reassure me constantly; that's a ridiculous expectation. I just want to be sure that the person I am interacting with is having a good time. So long as that is happening, I will have a very good time as well!- Lastly, if my character form an in-depth dynamic IC with your character, such as a close friendship or romantic relationship, I will want your discord. It is generally better for me to write these deep dynamics in a place I am more comfortable and will be able to write frequently, and ingame is not it. In fact, I am unlikely to accept any romance ingame, as I do not want to tie another person's character into a relationship when I know I will be unavailable most of the time. If I do plot a relationship with you, please know that my character would be meeting yours more frequently than I am OOC able to do. Please imagine more IC quality time together that's simply... behind the scenes! They would not be an absent or neglectful partner. "Long time no see" is 100% fine for characters that aren't close, but I'll feel guilty and bad if I get hit with an "I missed you" from an IC loved one of my character implying my character just left them alone for that long.
These are versions of Vynathr available for interactions on tumblr and discord! Some of them are different enough characters that they are also available to interact with ingame, under different names.
